Is it possible for the user to eventually transfer the data from a hosting service to a personal server(s)?

Do users generally embed advertisements via basic HTML?
Is it commonplace for advertisers to pay through PayPal?

1. Any hosting account with a web server that understands PHP and MySQL is ok, shared, managed or dedicated hosting, or on your own computer, doesn't matter.
2. Yes, the data is stored in a mysql database, you can export the database and import it on another account. And use FTP to transfer the files.
3. As an admin on your forum you can modify templates from the styles. You can for example add basic html into a template in the header to show a banner in the top.
4. Yes. But vB doesn't have an advertisement manager build in. You can ask people to pay and then have to manually add the ad. There is a mod on vbulletin.org probably that makes this easier.
