MySQL load

Friday ~ March 03, 2010

  • Hi,

I am considering buying vBulletin for my forum (http://forums.bizhat.com/)

I have few questions regarding vBulletin. vBulletin store templates in Database, so to serve a page, vBulletin need to make more MySQL query ? That is more server load compared to phpBB that store template on file system ?

I know having template in MySQL database is easy to modify from admin area, but this will cost in terms of server load and memory requirements ?

    Thanks,

    Yujin

  • I dont think you need to worry about that since your forum is not that active posting wise.

  • There is an add-on over at vbulletin.org that will cache your templates as php files. It actually works pretty well in conjunction with a PHP cache such as XCache, eAccelerator, or APC.
