A Couple Of Subtitle Issues

Saturday ~ March 03, 2010

  • How can you modify the size of subtitles in idx and sub format? In XBMC releases a year or so ago they were much smaller than they are in current XBMC release. In 720p they fill up almost a third of the screen and are enormous compared to srt subtitles in font size 28.

Also in the latest release the "Browse for subs" button no longer remembers the last folder used, meaning that I have to manually click my way in to my Subs folder, where I store all the subtitles. Can this be changed back somehow?

  • fixed in svn

  • because we used to display the textures faulty, this has since been fixed

  • okay, sounds like something broke when the new multipaths were added.
    will investigate

  • hehe then ocr on the bitmap and render it with ttf ;)

  • Before it remembered the last entered folder when you press "Browse for subtitles"
Now it does not remember, and just shows all the drives and shares which you then can traverse through to get to the subtitle folder again.

  • Ok, nice.

I am still a bit confused about the large subtitles. You say it's defined by the dvd authors. However I have a pre 2.0 XBMC that I can switch to on my Xbox and here the subtitles are much smaller than on the current versions. How can that be?

  • huh, are you saying the custom subtitle directory isnt included in the default dir popped up?

idx/sub cannot be resized with satisfactory results. they are bitmaps and will look like arse. blame the dvd authors, they set the size
